Video conferencing apps review

During these Covid times, more people than ever have had the need for videoconferencing. Videoconferencing is interaction between two or more people using camera and video. While conferencing using only audio is possible, in this review the apps must have the video feature. These are the most common apps from my experience. It is necessary to have a laptop and a network connection. People then communicate using internet. Sometimes people connect to the internet using phone. While there are many Voice over IP, these require a number and are often paid service.

Skype

Skype is one of the best and by far most iconic videoconferencing app. It is one of the oldest. Originally it was a peer to peer calling app. Users could find each other using Skype username and call. After some time, the video call feature appeared. But Skype is so old, that it was started when no web cameras were available and the internet rate was unthinkable. Skype is most likely the oldest voice communication application. Becoming the leader, it was bought by Windows corporation. Now it is integrated with Skype for Business, formerly Lync. Recognizing its superiority, Skype for business is basically rebranded Skype.

The video quality is good and voice is clear. It has also Echo test service. The reliability is one of the best. It is possible to use the online version, the Desktop version, Android version and Linux version.

Zoom

Zoom is a distinctive calling platform with conferencing features. It has many useful features and used in podcasts and webcasts. The voice call works good and it is recommended to use for broadcasts.

Google

Google also has a videocalling feature. It is possible to use using Google hangouts. Although the it takes time to adapt using it, anyone using Google account can use it.
